About Katie

Hello.

Katie MalinskiI’m Katie Malinski, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker helping families in beautiful Austin, Texas.

I’ve lived in Gulf Coast states my whole life – born in Florida, I grew up in Louisiana, and came to Austin to earn my Master of Science in Social Work at The University of Texas. By the time I had my diploma, I was in love with Austin, so I stayed … and now enjoy all Austin has to offer with my husband and two children – who, not surprisingly, have proven to be my best teachers.

My Approach

As a parenting coach and family therapist, I offer expert guidance to help families regain their balance and move forward together. My top priority is preserving your parent-child relationship, and my greatest strength is my ability to see connections and patterns that are key to resolving your family’s difficulties and discord.

I create a quiet, inviting space where it’s safe to talk about the hard stuff. I’m there to lighten your load – to listen and observe, then give you valuable insights and concrete steps you can take to make positive changes for your family.

No judgment. Just understanding, a fresh perspective and hope.

I love my work. I believe family is the foundation of who we are as people and as a culture, and helping improve family lives is my calling and my passion. Every time I’m allowed into a family’s private life, I’m honored, and every time a family says things are getting better because of our work together, I’m joyful.

My Experience

I’ve been working with children, adolescents and their families in private practice since 2004, and in other settings for several years prior, using proven therapeutic models. I’ve also worked with leading local agencies in private settings, schools, and incarcerated or mandated residential programs.

I’ve had extensive clinical experience with a wide range of issues and diagnoses, including:

  • family communication issues
  • defiant or oppositional behavior
  • parental limit-setting
  • self-esteem issues
  • coping and social skills
  • divorce and custody difficulties
  • school behavioral and achievement problems
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • ADHD
  • sensory processing difficulties
  • aggression in young children
  • substance abuse in adolescents
  • sexual development [normal & abnormal] and abuse

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas, I proudly uphold a high standard of professionalism, ethics and continuing education. To learn more about these standards, please follow these links for Scope of Practice information or our Code of Conduct .
